They are always on the move. TV-performances, concerts and nightlong work in the studio.
Bill (17), Tom (17), Gustav (18) and Georg (19) from Tokio Hotel (“Schrei”) and their gigantic career. They are the most successful German band. Their songs – Number-One-Hits.
Has drummer Gustav now to pay for this mega-success with his health?
The 18 years old suffers under Tinnitus! That is a disorder of the hearfunction – the concerned person hears constantly a pesky hum, whistle or noise in his ear.
In VIVA BamS the musician talks for the first time about the frightened illness, that is often caused by stress and noise pollution.
Gustav reveals, how all began: “That was one year before – after a performance in Munich.”
He covers the problem up: “ I have got used to that in the meantime.”
The Magdeburger plays the drums already since he was five years old. Especially musicians of this musical instrument suffers often under hear-damages – like Gustavs`s idol Lars Ulrich (Metallica) or Bela B. from “Die Ärzte”.
Does the Tokio Hotel-drummer underestimates the illness?
The noise, that can people make also psychical ill in extreme cases, is a warning signal of the body, that cannot bear the stress and needs relaxation.
Didn`t Gustav get medical care? The musician to VIVA-BamS: “ I have no time to go to a doctor. And I don`t know, whenever I will have time for let that heal. It won`t become better anyway.” Gustav shrugs his shoulders.
An opinion, for that Prof. Eckart Altenmüller from the musician-medicine institute in Hannover warns:” A Tinnitus at such a young age is unusual. I have the urgent advice for the young man to make a break. If the noise pollution will stay on constantly, then a chronical illness can be caused with permantly torment earnoise.”
A noisebreak between some weeks and some months can give the inner ear the time for recovery.
But there is no thought for a break:
Exactly like in 2005 and 2006 Tokio Hotel will come up to their title “overflyers” also in the next year: Bill polished at the new songs until yesterday (the new album “Zimmer 483” will be released on 23.02.07) and the band will go for the first time on a Europe-Tour on 16.03.2007!
